Part-Time Cashier – Friendly Local Store in Idyllwild

Idyllwild Food Mart is looking for a reliable part-time cashier to join our small team. This position involves operating the register, assisting customers, and helping keep the store running smoothly during your shift.

Prior cashier experience is preferred, especially in a gas station or convenience store. Experience with the Gilbarco Passport register system is a big plus. This is the same system used by major brands like Chevron and Circle K, so if you have worked at one of those stores you will already be familiar with how fuel sales work.

We can easily train you on the store itself, but selling fuel has a few quirks. Applicants with gas station experience will have a head start.

One of the enjoyable parts of this job is that you’ll regularly see friends, neighbors, and familiar faces from around town. On weekends we also welcome many visitors to Idyllwild, and our store is often the first stop people make when they arrive. We take pride in being friendly and acting as good ambassadors for the town, so good customer service and patience are important.

You must be at least 21 years old to apply, as the position includes selling beer and cigarettes.

This is a part-time position. We work with employees to create a schedule that fits both your availability and the store’s needs. Some evening shifts will be required (currently until 9 PM).

During your shift you will be working independently, so the ability to stay organized and manage your time is important. In addition to helping customers and operating the register, there are light duties such as restocking, basic cleaning, and keeping the store tidy.

We have a small, dependable team, and we rely on each other to show up and keep things running smoothly. When you’re scheduled, the store is counting on you to be there.

The position begins with a short introductory / probationary period so that both you and the store can make sure the job is a good fit. Details will be discussed during the interview.
